Nominated for fifteen 2007 Elly Awards, MSTW wins five!
Nominated for an amazing fifteen Elly Awards, MSTW walked away with five, including the top prize for the third year running. Enchanted April won for Best Overall Production (Comedy), Best Director (Susan McCandless), Best Leading Female Actor, Comedy (Shaleen Schmutzer), and Best Supporting Female Actor, Comedy (Hazel Johnson and Georgann Wallace). MSTW sweeps the major comedy awards at the 2006 Elly's
The Rainmaker wins for Best Overall Production (Comedy), Best Director (Susan McCandless), Best Set Design (Susan McCandless), and Best Lighting Design (Ken Stefferud). Allen Pontes and Julie Anchor win Best Actor and Best Actress in a Comedy for Same Time Next Year. See the SARTA website for a list of all the nominees.
Grants Awarded to Main Street Theatre Works
For the second consecutive year, Main Street Theatre Works has received significant support from the U. S. Forest Service of El Dorado National Forest as well as from the City of Jackson Both entities have acknowledged the important contribution we are making to the community by awarding us substantial grants to apply toward continued development of the Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre. This year's grant from the Forest Service amounts to $25,000, and the City of Jackson's grant is $10,000. These generous funds are greatly needed to improve the amphitheatre site. Priorities include completion of the terraces and construction of a permanent stage, permanent restrooms, and a backstage dressing room.MSTW sincerely thanks the U. S. Forest Service and the City of Jackson for their largesse and foresight!
